This is the first Island Tribe game I've had a chance to play through completely so unfortunately, I can't compare this one to the first Island Tribe for review. But based on other games I've played like Roads of Rome, I can. ;)
Island Tribe 2 is a fun time-management style game that relies on you, the player, to direct workers on clearing rubble, constructing buildings to produce materials, and basically to make the way through to other parts of the land.
There are 3 main islands in Island Tribe 2, with each island consisting of 10 levels. In each level, there is at least one artifact and these artifacts are fun to collect, as you can see all your collected artifacts in your book. The book is shown on the map with all the levels and in that book as well, there are medals showing certain achievements such as how much wood you've collected, etc.
Of course, since this is a time management game, you're under the clock to finish all the requirements in a level but if you don't make expert, you can certainly replay a level and try to get expert to do so. If you like this style of gameplay and you like the Roads of Rome series-which has a very similar gameplay style-then you'll definitely love Island Tribe 2. I definitely recommend it, especially for those time management enthusiasts. :D
